Answer: their books on CD can be found at Cracker Barrel. After an exhausting month, I drove to Minneapolis, Minnesota, to visit my husband. This was a hurried, last minute trip that was much needed on my part and much wanted on my husband's part. I would rather have taken a flight, but the costs was prohibitive being the last minute. So I found myself driving sixteen hours, yes, I said sixteen hours. I've been known to do crazy long drives before, and find it particularly welcoming with a book on CD.

A must have for one of these trips is at least one book on CD, but I always have a difficult time choosing. At one time, I would have gone straight for a suspension of disbelief story of Nora Roberts, but I now look for writer's that challenge me a bit more. So I chose one by David and one by Fannie.

As I drove through middle and northern Tennessee and into Kentucky, I listened to a sweet story by Fannie about an elderly lady named Elner. Fannie tells how Elner's decision to pick figs one day affects the many people in her life. She has an NDE...near death experience that she only tells her niece about, and, of couse, the reader. Interesting and inspirational as many of Fannie's stories are.

I got on into Missouri the next day and began David's tale of the Camel Club sticking their nosey nose's into political intrigue and multiple deaths in Washington, DC. Somehow, he wove into this an Atlantic City gambling con. I drove through Iowa and into Minneosota as the suspense built and deflated as I figured it out long-before he ended the story.

Listening to these two very different stories taught me something. Pay attention to your stories so they don't become predicable to your readers. And read your stories out loud and let others do so before you publish!!
But hey..I was able to look at the scenery along the way as my mind was occupied and the miles fell away and here I am. Enjoying some much needed time with my husband, relaxing, reading emails, checking up on my friend's blogs, blogging myself.  Aahhh, free time....love it!
